American basketball referee Eric Lewis has retired after 19 seasons with the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He was employed as an NBA referee in 2005. In his tenure, he officiated 1,098 games, including 82 postseason contests and six NBA Finals.
On May 28, 2023, the NBA opened an investigation on Lewis after it was claimed that he used a burner Twitter account to protect other NBA referees and himself.
On August 30, 2023, Lewis declared his immediate retirement, which caused the NBA to end its investigation into his social media usage.
